April 22, 2019 – As PlanetM partners, Powerlink Systems and Lightning Systems, are committed to the advancement of mobility technologies in the state of Michigan. Powerlink Systems provides electric vehicle charging products and services while Lightning Systems is a zero-emissions, all-electric powertrain manufacturer. Harnessing the power of Michigan’s mobility-focused automotive ecosystem, these companies teamed up earlier this year to advance the evolution of transportation in the state with an exciting electric powertrain conversion project.
In February, Lightning Systems, along with Michigan based Spartan Motors, completed their first battery-electric conversion of a Chevrolet 6500XD Low Cab Forward truck in Charlotte, Michigan and used a Powerlink Systems provided Level 3, DC fast, charging station to power the vehicle for its first test drive and subsequent inaugural road trip. (See photos of the truck below.) This was the first build for a large order of truck conversions that Lightning Systems is delivering to a client and having fast battery charging capabilities was crucial for meeting the requirements of the project. Powerlink Systems recommended the ChargePoint Express 100 Level 3 smart charging station to meet the demand at an optimal cost-performance ratio.
The connections that the PlanetM initiative cultivates has facilitated the development and deployment of mobility projects in the state of Michigan. The opportunity for Powerlink Systems and Lightning Systems to work together is yet another example of PlanetM’s value to the future of mobility innovation.
